The Servants of Mary fondly called “The Servites” stepped into the Union Territory of Puducherry with a vision and mission to be established.
They entered the rural area of Kottucherry some four Kms from Karaikal. It was a very backward area. Of course, there was and there is a government school called as V.O.C High school. Four nuns started their mission with medical service. They helped all the poor and the needy people; the majority were vendors, farmers and fishermen.
Their vision was to impart education to the poor and downtrodden, especially to uplift the status of girl children.
His Excellency Bishop Selvanathan requested the sisters to start a school. In the year 1976, the Kindergarten sections were started. Rev.Sr.Vijaya played a pivotal role in the development of the school. She didn’t hesitate to get help. In the year 1977 the first standard was inaugurated, gradually classes were begun. The 6th Stu came to exist in 1983. A new thatched building was constructed in 1984. Std IX was started in the year 1985 and recognition were started. There was a wide improvement while Rev.Sr.Marietta was posted as Headmistress in the year 1985. She put in a lot of effort to get the grant-in-aid. Finally, in the year 1987 Servite High school received the status of Govt. Aided High school. Regular Trained Teachers were appointed.
- In the year 1988, Servite’s first batch appeared for Std X public examinations, students came out with flying colours and C.Karthik secured State First Rank. It was a Himalayan victory, and this gave a better recognition for our school.
In the following years, there were many glorious moments in sports, extracurricular activities and education.
